Basic information

Maria Callas (Anna Maria Sofia Cecilia Kalogeropoulos) was born in December 2, 1923 in New York City. Maria's father were George Kalogeropoulos and mother were Evaggelia Litsa Kalogeropoulos. Both of them were born in Greek. Maria's genre was classical music and style was opera.

Maria started to take piano lessons at the age of seven. When she was in elementary school, she won several amateur talent contests. She sang her first song called Tosca during the World War II. After the World War II her music coach said to her that she should go to Italy and establish her career. Maria's one of the most popular roles was in Bellini's Norma in 1948. Critics liked her and Maria's career began to soar.

Callas was active from 1940s to 1960s. Her last performance were in 1965. Maria Callas died in September 16, 1977 in Paris France because of myocardial infarction.

Introduction

Hello!

I decided to write my schoolproject blog on Maria Callas, because I am really interested in opera singers and her voice is just absolutely amazing! I am going to post some information, animations, pictures and videos of her.
